About Finca Frutomadre

Finca Frutomadre is my mother's legacy, who reforested it 40% with new coffee trees, native trees, and cocoa. After inheriting it in very bad condition, she worked tirelessly to revalue and take it forward, while other farms in the area were abandoned by the coffee crisis. That dedication inspired me and taught me a lot about resilience, transmitting my passion for coffee growing. After my mother passed away, I became the sole administrator of the farm, and I am proud to continue this noble task by bringing the fruit of our beautiful farm to the cups and hearts of coffee lovers worldwide.

The farm is located on the slopes of the majestic and smoking Chaparrastique volcano and is home to an exuberant biodiversity of flora and fauna. In El Salvador, the coffee forest is of immense importance to facing climate change, conserving the natural environment, and providing various eco-systemic services; I consider that in addition to producing good coffee, this provides exceptional added value. My vision is focused on the general well-being of my employees and, having a degree in environmental management, I attach special importance to an integrated and agro-ecological management, with a view to innovate towards an organic crop. At Frutomadre, we highly value natural resources such as water; since there are no underground or river resources nearby, the collection of rainwater is the only source of water on the farm.

On the farm there are several varieties of coffee, of which the yellow Icatú has stood out as a coffee of strict height, although the farm does not exceed 1000 meters. The careful handling and harvesting of the beans at their right point of maturity make it considered specialty coffee, with coffee experts reviewing it as “a floral and spicy fragrance at the moment of breaking, caramel flavor in the mouth, with a sweetness of panela and chocolate, dense, creamy body and a balanced acidity with a prolonged aftertaste.”

I am very satisfied with the achievements made thanks to all the effort invested to date, although the work to be done continues. I want to continue to learn about the coffee trade, research and find new markets, achieve better harvests, as well as experiment with new processes to enhance the quality of my coffee. I would also like to continue the project of renovation of plots with new tree varieties, while continuing to reforest them with native trees.

A premium cup of coffee from Frutomadre is a true experience, born from the seeds of love and faith, nurtured from the soul of a women and the vigor of the Chaparrastique volcano.
