About Finca Cartagena
Carmen Cartagena is a woman who knows how to deal with the different situations that life brings to one, she is a hard-working woman, resilient, grateful for everything she has and is constantly learning. As part of the fourth generation of coffee growers in her family, she remembers that from a very young age she looked forward to vacations so she could go to her grandparents' farm to play and fertilize the coffee. However, life goes by and she faces different situations that make her take important decisions, such as the reactivation of her abandoned farm for more than 20 years and as if that were not enough, a divorce that makes her seek financial independence and for which she begins to invest all her love and work in the care of the farm and bringing it back to life so she can get ahead with her children.
Finca Cartagena consists of an area of extension of 50 blocks, 28 of them are dedicated to the production of coffee and has a certified 13-year-old Caoba Forest. Finca Cartagena is in Tapiquilares de las Nieves, San Antonio de Cortés, Honduras at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level and it produces an exquisite Parainema coffee, with a balanced flavor between acidity and sweetness. At Finca Cartagena, we work with passion and enthusiasm to grow and excel, in addition to firm values in conservation and respect for the environment and the community, which is why 100% organic coffee is produced on the farm.
Carmen has 3 coffee brands: Café de Cartagena, Café Atento and Café Pending. The first is organic coffee produced 100% on the farm, which in the past was sold in local supermarkets and at the time could be exported to Miami and Pakistan. The second was born from buying from a women's cooperative in Copán, since Carmen sought coffee from different regions of Honduras, and the third arose with a desire for solidarity, since it was sought that a percentage of the profits from Café Pending, were destined to support different social works such as nursing homes, schools and in general to be at the service of the San Antonio community, however, due to the covid pandemic, the project could not be completed to be carried out. At the moment, Carmen has all her roasted coffee projects on standby, but she is interested in finding direct buyers interested in good coffee with an impressive history like the one produced at Finca Cartagena. If you are looking for a balanced coffee between acidity and sweetness, do not hesitate to contact Carmen and enjoy a good coffee from Honduran lands.
